Chargers OT Rashawn Slater underwent successful ankle surgery yesterday in LA, a tightrope procedure aimed at accelerating his return from a high ankle sprain. Slater, who was injured in Sunday’s game vs the Seahawks, will be placed on Injured Reserve and begin rehabbing.

Sean Payton has been asked questions about whether he would take over play-calling duties. As recently as Sunday, Payton said it was “a fair question” but admitted “it’s tough to discuss any of that right now” but that he would “look at everything” heading into Sunday’s matchup in Los Angeles against the winless Chargers.

The Broncos are taking a more collaborative play-calling approach this week with HC Sean Payton having an increased role in the process and OC Davis Webb continuing with a significant game-planning and game-day role, per sources. Denver is looking to spark its offense ahead of Sunday’s game at Los Angeles vs. the Chargers.
